AI Animation Director
The AI Animation Director builds a complete first draft of a video from a short description. You choose the template, the character, the voice and the music mood. The Director writes the story, the on-screen text and the narration, records the voiceover, finds photos and footage, and adds background music. Before it builds anything, it shows you the plan so you can change it.
The result is a normal Glintia design: every scene, line of text and audio clip stays editable.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- The Director is available on every plan, including the free trial. Your plan includes a set number of Director videos each month. You can see how many you’ve used under AI Video Scenario on the Billing page.
- Building a video uses AI credits (see Credits below). To start a build you need enough credits available to cover the hold the Director places, which is at least 80 credits.
- The Director always creates a new landscape design (1920 × 1080). The design you have open isn’t changed.
Open the Director
Section titled “Open the Director”You can start it from four places:
- Dashboard: click AI Animation Director in the welcome banner.
- AI Studio: open AI Studio on the editor rail, go to the Characters tab and click AI Director.
- AI Builder mode: click the sparkle button at the bottom of the rail (its tooltip reads AI Animation Director).
- Command palette: press Ctrl+P (Cmd+P on a Mac) and choose AI Animation Director.
The wizard has five steps. The step you’re on is shown under the title, for example “Step 1 of 5: Choose Template”. On wider screens, a Summary column on the right shows your choices so far. Click any part of it to jump back to that step.
Step 1: Choose Template
Section titled “Step 1: Choose Template”- Browse the templates by category in the left column, or type in Search templates…
- Click a template to select it. Each card shows how many slides the template has and its category
- Click Next
The Director builds from landscape templates that have several layouts, and only lists templates it can build from on your plan. It uses the layouts of the template you pick for every scene.
Step 2: Choose Character
Section titled “Step 2: Choose Character”- Under Select a Character, click the character who should present your video, or click None for a video without a character
- Click Next
If the template has layouts with a spot for a presenter, your character appears there, with actions and expressions chosen to suit each scene. If the character is tagged as male or female, the next step’s voice list is filtered to match and a matching voice is picked for you.
Step 3: Describe Animation
Section titled “Step 3: Describe Animation”- In Describe your animation, say what the video is about, who it’s for and what you want viewers to do, for example “A marketing video for a new coffee shop, for local office workers, ending with an invitation to the opening day”
- Not sure where to start? Click one of the Sample prompts for your template to use it, then edit it
- Click Next
A word counter sits above the box and turns orange after 100 words. A few clear sentences work better than a long brief.
Step 4: Audio Settings
Section titled “Step 4: Audio Settings”- Choose a Language for the narration. There are 16: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Mandarin), Hindi, Arabic, Turkish, Polish and Swedish
- Open Voice and pick the narrator. Filter with All, Male or Female, type in Search voice…, and click the play button next to a voice to hear a sample. The list only shows voices for the language you chose
- Pick a Background Music Mood: Happy & Upbeat (the default), Corporate & Professional, Calm & Relaxing, Dramatic & Intense, Cinematic, Tech & Futuristic, Playful & Fun, Inspirational, Ambient & Lo-Fi, Energetic Rock or Modern Electronic. Choose No Background Music to leave it out
- Click Plan My Video
The Director now plans your video. The Planning Your Video screen walks through “Deciding the story”, “Laying it onto the layouts” and “Checking every line fits”. This usually takes a minute or two, and nothing is charged until you approve the plan.
Step 5: Review the Plan
Section titled “Step 5: Review the Plan”The review shows exactly what the Director intends to build.
At the top is the brief: The promise (the one thing the video says), who it’s for, its tone, and the template it’s built from. Below it, each scene has its own card with:
- its purpose, such as the hook or the call to action
- a preview of the layout it uses
- a box for each piece of on-screen text, with a counter showing how many characters the layout has room for. The counter turns amber when a line is too long
- a Narration… box with what the voice will say
- a chart line, if the Director turned a point about numbers into a chart
You can change all of it before you build:
- Edit any text or narration by typing in its box. Leave a text box empty to remove that box from the scene.
- Change layout swaps the scene onto another layout from the same template. Click a layout to choose it.
- Move up and Move down (the arrow buttons) reorder scenes.
- Remove this slide (the × button) deletes a scene. A video needs at least three scenes.
- Try a different take asks the Director for a fresh plan from the same answers.
- Apply my Brand Kit appears if your Brand Kit has colours or logos. Leave it ticked to brand the video when it opens. See Brand Kit.
The Director plans between five and eight scenes. If some lines still don’t fit their layout, a note says so: you can shorten them here, or build anyway and fix them in the editor.
Generate the video
Section titled “Generate the video”- Check the cost line under the brief. It shows the planning cost so far, plus the narration, the number of stock assets and the music the build may use
- Click Generate Animation. The button also shows the estimated total in credits (”≈ … cr”)
- Wait while the Building Your Video screen records the narration, finds the photos and assembles the slides. Click Minimize to continue browsing to keep working. A small “Generating video…” chip stays on screen, and you can click it to see progress again
- When the build finishes, your new design opens in the editor
What the Director makes
Section titled “What the Director makes”Your draft is a new design, saved with your other files. It contains:
- Scenes built from your template’s layouts, in the order you approved
- On-screen text from the plan, fitted to each layout
- Narration: one voiceover clip per scene in the voice and language you chose. Each scene runs at least as long as its narration
- Visuals: stock photos, footage and backgrounds chosen for each scene, a chart where a scene is about numbers, and entrance animations and scene transitions where the template doesn’t already have them
- Your character, if you picked one, on the layouts that have a presenter spot
- Background music in your chosen mood, up to 2 minutes long, set at a low volume under the narration. If the music can’t be generated, you still get the rest of the video
Edit the draft
Section titled “Edit the draft”Everything the Director made is ordinary editor content, so you can change any part of it:
- Click any text to rewrite or restyle it. See Text, Fonts and Text Styles
- Select a photo or video and use Replace to swap it, including for a new AI image or AI video
- Reorder, add or delete scenes. See Working with Scenes
- Adjust timing on the Timeline, or replace the music from the Audio panel
- Re-direct your character with new actions and expressions. See Adding and Directing Characters
If you applied your Brand Kit and don’t like the result, undo it like any other change.
Credits
Section titled “Credits”- Planning has no upfront charge. Its cost is kept for 24 hours and added to your next build, which is why the cost line lists planning and the number of takes. Each Try a different take adds to that planning cost.
- Building holds credits, then settles. When you click Generate Animation, the Director holds 80 credits plus any planning cost. When the build finishes you pay what the video actually used, at least 5 credits, and the rest goes back to your balance.
- Stock you already own is free. The estimate counts every stock asset as a new download, so the real charge is often lower.
- Failed builds cost nothing. If a build fails, the held credits are returned and the run doesn’t count toward your monthly Director videos.
See AI Studio and AI Credits for how credits work across Glintia.
