Whiteboard Videos

Whiteboard videos are a powerful format for explaining complex ideas. Each element is drawn on screen, often by a visible hand, so viewers stay focused on what appears next. Glintia has a dedicated Whiteboard mode, 40 drawing hands, a Trace style that sketches photos before revealing them, and none of it uses AI credits.

Creating a Whiteboard Video

1. Click New Design and choose Whiteboard (“Hand-drawn explainer style”) under “What do you want to create?”
2. Pick a canvas size: Landscape, Square or Portrait. The editor opens on the Elements panel with its Whiteboard filter selected
3. Add elements, characters, text and your own uploads to the slide. In Whiteboard mode, vector artwork is drawn in a hand-drawn style automatically
4. Select an item, click Effects in its toolbar and choose Draw under “on Enter”, then pick a drawing hand
5. Narrate your content: click an empty part of the canvas, press Ctrl+Shift+L (Cmd+Shift+L on a Mac) to open the Lip Sync panel and click Text to Speech, or upload your own recording from the Upload panel. Add background music from the Audio panel
6. Click Download to export your video

Tip

Already started a design in another mode? Use the mode switcher in the editor header to change it to Whiteboard at any time.

What You Can Draw

The Whiteboard mode rail keeps the tools an explainer needs: Template, Elements, AI Studio, Text, Upload, Character, Audio and Layers.

• Hand-drawn doodles: the Whiteboard filter in the Elements panel shows a library of hand-drawn doodle art
• Everything else in the library: switch the filter to any other category, or search by keyword, and vector elements, icons and charts are redrawn in the hand-drawn style
• Characters: the Character panel opens with its Whiteboard filter selected, and characters are redrawn in the hand-drawn style too, still with all their actions and expressions
• AI images: AI Studio defaults to the Sketch style in Whiteboard mode. Unlike the drawing effects, AI image generation uses AI credits

Note

Photos, video, text and backgrounds keep their own look. To give a photo the whiteboard treatment, use the Trace style described below.

Hand-Drawn Styles

Select an item, open More Tools from its toolbar (Ctrl+Shift+D, or Cmd+Shift+D on a Mac) and click Hand-drawn to open the Hand-drawn panel. It works in every editor mode, not just Whiteboard. Switch the style on or off and choose a preset:

• Whiteboard marker: the Whiteboard mode default
• Clean line: flat color with one confident contour
• Pencil
• Marker

Fine-tune any preset with the Stroke, Colour, Hatching, Marker and Skin controls, and reset back to the preset at any time.

Drawing Animations

Draw with a hand

The Draw entrance effect (Effects panel, “on Enter”) draws the item onto the slide. Pick who holds the pen: 8 hands (light or dark skin, man or woman, T-shirt or suit sleeve), each with 5 tools: Pen, Marker, Fine Marker, Chalk and Brush. That makes 40 drawing hands. Choose No hand if you want the drawing to appear without one.

Trace your photos

For images and video, the Draw effect has a Style setting:

• Brush: paints the image in with a single brush stroke
• Trace: sketches the image’s own outlines, then paints the photo in

Tracing runs in your browser, so product shots, portraits and screenshots get the speed-paint reveal at no cost.

Drag items in by hand

The Hand entrance effect shows a hand dragging the item onto the slide, with 6 hands to choose from.

Adding Text

Text in whiteboard videos can be:

• Written in: the Draw effect reveals text letter by letter, with the hand following along
• Handwritten-looking: pick a font from the Script category in the font list
• Animated in any other way: use the regular text entrance and exit effects

Whiteboard Overlays

The Overlays panel has 18 whiteboard overlays for framing a scene:

• Sheet-wide: Grid Paper, Dot Grid, Ruled Paper, Marker Frame, Blueprint, Isometric Grid, Cross Hatch, Graph Axes, Taped Corners and Eraser Smudge
• Scattered marks: Doodles, Sticky Notes, Ink Spots, Chalk Dust, Handwriting, Math Symbols, Push Pins and Washi Tape

Note

The Overlays panel is on the rail in the Animation and Full Editor modes. Switch modes from the editor header to add an overlay, then switch back to Whiteboard.

Audio Tips

Note

Whiteboard videos rely heavily on narration. Plan your script carefully and sync visuals to your voiceover timing.

Best practices for whiteboard audio:

1. Keep narration clear and at a steady pace
2. Sync drawing animations to key points in your script
3. Add subtle background music for engagement
4. Use pauses effectively for emphasis

Export Settings

For whiteboard videos, we recommend:

• Format: MP4
• Quality: Full HD (1080p), available on every plan
• Canvas: Landscape (1920 × 1080) for YouTube, courses and presentations; Portrait (1080 × 1920) for Reels and TikTok

Designs play at 30 fps, so there is no frame rate to set.
