AI Sound Effects

Can’t find the right sound in the stock library? Describe it and let AI make it. The AI Sound panel generates two kinds of audio:

  • Sound Effects: short effects such as footsteps on gravel, a door creaking or a car engine starting, up to 10 seconds
  • Music: background music, soundtracks and full songs, from 5 seconds to 2 minutes

Both use AI credits, and both are added to your design like any other audio clip.

  • In the Audio panel, click AI Sound Effects above the search box (on a phone or small screen, it’s the wave icon next to the search box)
  • In AI Studio, open the Audio tab and click Music & sound effects
  • In AI Builder mode, click AI Sound on the rail

The panel is titled AI Audio Generation. It has two tabs at the top, Sound Effects and Music, and below them Generate and History.

  1. Open the Sound Effects tab and make sure Generate is selected
  2. In Describe the sound effect, describe the sound, for example “thunder and heavy rain on a tin roof” or “a single wooden door creaking open slowly”
  3. Drag the Duration slider to set the length, from 1 to 10 seconds (5 seconds by default). The credit cost below the slider updates as you drag
  4. Click Generate
  5. When the effect is ready, click Play to listen
  6. Click Add to Timeline to add it to your design

Each click of Generate makes one sound effect. If it isn’t quite right, adjust your description and generate again.

  • Name the source and the action: “glass bottle shattering on concrete” works better than “breaking sound”.
  • Add the setting: “footsteps in an empty marble hallway” sounds different from “footsteps on wet grass”.
  • Match the length to the moment: a click or a whoosh only needs a second or two. Longer durations suit ambience such as rain, crowds or traffic.
  • One sound per effect: generate separate effects and layer them on the timeline rather than describing a whole scene at once.
  1. Open the Music tab and make sure Generate is selected
  2. Under Model, pick Sonilo for background music and soundtracks, or ElevenLabs for full songs, with vocals or instrumental
  3. In Music Description, describe the music, for example “Upbeat electronic track with synths and bass, 128 BPM, energetic and modern”
  4. Set Duration with the slider: 5 to 120 seconds in 5-second steps (10 seconds by default)
  5. Optionally, click Choose styles… under Style to add tags. In Choose Music Styles, browse All Styles, Genres, Moods, Instruments and Tempo, or search, click the styles you want, then click Done. The chosen styles appear under the box and are sent along with your description
  6. Check the credit cost, then click Generate (or press Enter in the description box; Shift+Enter adds a new line)

When the music is ready, it’s added to your design straight away and the panel switches to History.

The styles include genres (such as Electronic, Orchestral, Jazz, Ambient), moods (such as Energetic, Calm, Epic, Mysterious), instruments (such as Piano, Guitar, Strings, Synths) and tempos (Slow, Moderate, Fast, Very Fast).

When you add a sound effect or music clip:

  • If no single item is selected, it’s added to the current scene’s audio, starting at the playhead. Move the playhead first to place it exactly.
  • If one item is selected (a character, for example), the audio is attached to that item. If there’s no free spot at the playhead, you’ll see “Move the cursor to an empty spot”.

Once it’s on the timeline, you can move, trim and set the volume of the clip like any other audio. See Music, Sound Effects and Audio Settings and The Timeline.

Click History to see what you’ve made: Recent sound effects on the Sound Effects tab, or Recent music on the Music tab. Each entry shows its description and length. Click the play button to listen, and Add to put it on your timeline again. Click the refresh button if a new generation doesn’t appear yet.

Everything you generate is also saved to your files, so you’ll find it in the Upload panel.

0.5 credits per second. A 1-second effect costs 0.5 credits and a 10-second effect costs 5 credits.

The cost is shown next to the lightning icon above the Generate button. If a generation fails, the credits are given back.
