Uploading Your Own Media

The Upload panel is your personal media library. Files you upload there are stored in your account and can be used in any design. This article covers which files you can upload, the size limits, how to add uploads to a scene, how to swap one picture or clip for another, and how storage works on your plan.

KindFile typesLargest file
ImagesPNG, JPEG100 MB, and no more than 100 megapixels
VideoMP4200 MB, and no longer than 30 minutes
AudioMP3100 MB
3D modelsGLB (glTF 2.0, self-contained)50 MB
Design filesPSD (Photoshop), AI (Illustrator)Converted to a PNG image when you upload. See below

Other formats, such as SVG, GIF, WebP, MOV, WebM and WAV, aren’t accepted. You’ll see “Please select a PNG or JPEG or MP4 files”. Convert the file first: export pictures as PNG or JPEG, video as MP4 and audio as MP3.

  1. Click Upload on the rail, or press Ctrl+Shift+U (Cmd+Shift+U on Mac). The Upload panel is on the rail in every editor mode
  2. Click the Upload button at the top of the panel. It shows how many uploads your plan has left, for example “Upload 40/50”
  3. Choose a file from your computer
  4. A tile appears at the top of the grid with the progress. When the transfer finishes, Glintia checks and optimizes the file. The tile shows Receiving, Checking, Optimizing or Finishing up while this runs

You don’t have to wait for processing to finish. In the browser tab you uploaded from, you can click the tile and start using the file straight away.

To stop an upload, click Cancel on its tile. This also gives back the storage it was using. The panel uploads one file at a time. If you pick another while one is running, you’ll see “Please wait for the current upload to finish.”

You can also drag files from your desktop or file manager straight onto the canvas:

  • An image or video appears where you drop it, and uploads to your library in the background
  • Audio is added to the timeline, and a 3D model is added to the scene once it has uploaded
  • Drop an image or video on a frame or grid cell to fill it
  • Hold Shift as you drop to make the file the scene’s background

You can drop several files at once. They upload one after another. When a dropped file finishes, Glintia shows “Added to your library and to the slide.”

Click a tile in the Upload panel to add it to the current scene, or drag it onto the canvas.

  • Images are added to the middle of the scene, or where you drop them
  • Videos are added as clips you can trim and edit. See Editing Video Clips
  • Audio is added to the current scene’s audio on the timeline. See Music, Sound Effects and Audio Settings
  • 3D models are added to the scene. They also appear under the 3D chip in the Elements panel

While you edit, Glintia shows a lighter copy of large files (video at up to 720p, images at up to 2,048 pixels). Your export uses the original file, so the finished video keeps full quality.

  • Type in Search uploads… to search by file name
  • Use the chips to show one kind of file: VIDEO, AUDIO, IMAGE, SVG or 3D. Click a chip again to turn it off. You can turn on more than one
  • Hover over an image to see its type and size

Your newest uploads are at the top. Uploads aren’t organized into folders, so give files clear names before you upload them. To see everything in a larger view, with sorting and a list view, open My Files from the dashboard. See Managing Your Files and Projects.

Replace swaps the media in a picture or clip and keeps everything you built around it: its position, size, rotation, crop, border, corner radius, shadow, effects, animations and timing.

  1. Select the photo or video on the canvas
  2. Click Replace in its toolbar. You can also right-click it and choose Replace image or Replace video
  3. A banner at the top of the canvas says “Pick an image or video to replace it with”. The Upload panel opens
  4. Click the file you want. To pick from somewhere else, use the chips under the banner: Uploads, Photos, Videos, GIFs, AI image, AI video and Brand

To back out, click Cancel on the banner or press Esc. A photo can be replaced by a video and the other way round. A background takes pictures only. Next time, Replace opens the source you used last.

You can also replace by dragging: drag a photo, clip or upload over a picture or video on the canvas and hold it there until Drop to replace appears, then let go. Hold Alt to add it as a new item instead.

Click the … menu on a video or audio tile and choose Transcript. The dialog turns the file’s speech into text you can copy, and gets it ready for lip sync. Click Transcribe to start. Transcribing uses AI credits, 0.25 credits per minute of audio, and the button shows the estimated cost before you start.

Hover over a tile, click the … menu and choose Delete.

Deleting a file gives back its storage and its upload slot. Voice recordings and lip-sync takes don’t show Delete in this menu.

Every upload counts toward two limits on your plan: total storage, and the number of files you can upload. Generated voices and AI results don’t count toward either.

PlanUpload storage
Basic5 GB
Pro15 GB
Advance100 GB
Enterprise1 TB

During the 7-day free trial you get a smaller starter allowance. Logos you upload to your Brand Kit are stored as uploads too, so they count toward these limits.

  • The Upload button shows how many uploads you have left
  • Usage Overview on the Billing page shows how much storage you have left (Upload Size)
  • Storage isn’t a monthly allowance. Files stay until you delete them, and deleting frees the space again

When a limit is reached, the upload stops before anything is sent, with one of these messages:

  • “Upload storage limit exceeded. Please upgrade your plan for more storage.”
  • “Upload file count limit exceeded. Please delete some files or upgrade your plan.”

Delete files you no longer need, or upgrade. See Plans, Limits and Usage.
