AI Video Editing Tools

The AI Video Editor listens to an uploaded clip, asks AI for an edit plan, and applies it to your design. Smart Edit trims the clip, captions it and adds B-roll. Auto Clips cuts a long video into short highlight clips, one per scene, ready to export for social media. Both are fully editable afterwards.

Click AI Video on the rail. It’s there in the Video Editor, Full Editor and AI Builder modes. You can also open AI Studio, choose the Video tab and click AI video editor.

The panel has three tabs:

  • Smart Edit: “Auto captions, trims & B-roll on this clip.”
  • Auto Clips: “Split into highlight clips, one per slide.” Each slide here is a new scene in your design
  • Dubbing: a shortcut to the Dub panel, where you translate and re-voice the clip. See Dubbing a Video into Another Language
  1. Select the clip on the canvas
  2. Open AI Video and choose Smart Edit or Auto Clips
  3. Optional: pick a preset under Edit style, or leave it on None (use my prompt). The list only appears when presets are available for the tab, and presets marked with a lock need a higher plan
  4. Optional: type Instructions (optional), for example “Make punchy vertical clips with bold captions”
  5. Click Generate

The button shows each stage as it runs: “Transcribing audio…”, then “Asking AI for an edit plan…”, then “Applying to your project…”, and finally “Done!”. A Plan summary under the button lists what the AI produced, such as the number of captions, kept segments, B-roll items or clips.

The transcript is reused if you run the panel again on the same clip while the editor stays open, so a second run only pays for the new plan.

The AI marks the parts of the clip worth keeping, leaving out silence, filler, mistakes and rambling. Glintia trims the clip to the longest of those kept parts and sets the scene’s length to match.

Only one stretch is kept, so if the AI found several good parts, the shorter ones are dropped. Check the Plan summary: “3 kept segment(s)” means two were left out. To remove several separate bits of a clip, use Edit Video by Transcript.

Auto Clips finds the most engaging standalone moments in a long video, up to 20 of them, and builds each one as its own scene:

  • A new scene is added at the end of the design for every clip, sized to the clip’s length
  • Each scene holds a copy of your video trimmed to that clip. The source file isn’t duplicated
  • Captions for all the clips are added as one AI Clip Captions subtitle track, each timed to its own scene

When Auto Clips finishes, a Generate video for current slide button appears.

  1. Click the scene you want in the scene list or timeline
  2. Click Generate video for current slide
  3. The panel says Video render queued. Find the finished file on the Renders page

This is an ordinary export of that scene, so it counts toward your monthly renders. To export several clips at once, or to choose a format and quality, use Download instead. See Exporting Your Video and Cloud Rendering and the Renders Page.

Everything the AI adds is normal editor content:

  • Adjust the trim with Trim or on the timeline. See Editing Video Clips
  • Edit, restyle or delete captions in the Subtitle panel
  • Delete scenes you don’t want from the scene list
  • Undo (Ctrl+Z, Cmd+Z on a Mac) steps back through the changes

Both tools are on every plan and use your monthly AI credits. Exports made with Generate video for current slide count toward your monthly renders, not your credits. See AI Studio and AI Credits and Plans, Limits and Usage.

  • “This video has no transcribable source. Use an uploaded video.”: the selected clip is stock footage or still uploading. Use one of your own uploads.
  • “Could not transcribe this video.”: the clip may have no clear speech. Both tools work from the transcript, so a clip without speech can’t be edited this way.
  • “The AI did not find any clips.”: Auto Clips found nothing that stands alone. Try again with instructions such as a target number of clips, or use a longer video.
  • “AI credit limit reached”: you’re out of AI credits for the month.
  • Smart Edit cut too much: open Trim and widen the clip again. The whole source is still there.
